Alexander Wade, 38, is wanted for felony aggravated assault by motor vehicle and related charges after the violent chain of events unfolded around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at the Phillips 66 Gas Station on Main Street in Darby Borough, authorities said.
Wade was picking up his girlfriend’s two children from their father when he suddenly accelerated his girlfriend’s SUV and attempted to run over the man, police said. An officer witnessed the attack and called for backup as Wade sped away, striking structures in his path, according to Darby Borough Police Chief Joseph Gabe.
Blocks away, at the intersection of Chester Pike and Springfield Road, surveillance footage captured Wade slamming into a black SUV with such force that it flipped over with a mother and her two children inside, Gabe said. The impact ejected an 8-year-old girl from the vehicle, police said.
Wade fled the crash scene on foot and remains at large.
Court records show Wade has a lengthy criminal history, including felony aggravated assault, arson, and multiple traffic offenses. His current charges include:
- Four counts of felony aggravated assault
- Four counts of felony aggravated assault by vehicle
- Four counts of felony accidents involving death or personal injury
- Four counts of misdemeanor simple assault
- Four counts of misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person
- Misdemeanor possession of an instrument of crime
- Multiple traffic violations, including reckless driving, driving on the sidewalk, and failing to stop and render aid
Anyone with information on Wade’s whereabouts is asked to call Darby Borough Police at 610-586-1100 or 911.
